Celebrating the life of
Joseph P. Brennan
Passed away on October 05, 2024
Joseph Patrick Brennan, Sr. was born October 15, 1946, to the late John Michael and Virginia Clancy Brennan. He was one of 6 children. He attended Blessed Sacrament School and Benedictine Military School. After high school, he attended Spring Hill College where he attended his first keg party twenty minutes after being dropped off by his parents.
After college, he joined the United States Air Force and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1969. He promptly married the love of his life, Janet Joyce Brennan, and moved to Taipei, Taiwan to join the Vietnam War and start their family. Their oldest son, Patrick, was born while they were stationed in Taipei, and he was flying C-130s in combat. He continued his career in the Air National Guard and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and the Commander of the 158th Airlift Squadron.
Upon completion of duty in Vietnam, he attended The University of Georgia School of Law where he was awarded a Juris Doctorate in 1977. He would eventually form the law firm of Brennan and Wasden with his business partner and lifelong friend, Wiley Wasden. His list of accomplishments as a pilot and attorney are too many to be listed here and he would not want that anyway.
Joe was an amazing man, a loving husband, a great father and friend, and a doting grandfather – his most proud role in a life full of achievements. If you know Joe as being laid back, thank one of his grandchildren.
Joe was a member of countless organizations and was a proud member and Past President of the Hibernian Society of Savannah. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Timothy Mark Brennan, and his beautiful wife who he loved with all his heart, Janet Joyce Brennan. He is survived by his three sons and their wives Patrick (Bridgett), Read (Caroline), and Tim (Lizzie), and six grandchildren, Finley, Read, Thomas, Landon, Lilla, and Midge.
There will be a visitation Wednesday, October 9th from 5-6:30 pm with a Rosary to follow at The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist

Patrick, Read and Tim, I have known your Dad my entire life. As my Mother always told me, as wee ones your Dad would dig holes in the Tybee sand where I promptly sat, much to his dismay. Over the span of a lifetime, Al and I have shared so many memorable times with your Mom and Dad. There was basketball coaching, fly over baseball fields with a wing tilt, good times on DI which we all somehow survived and so many acts of Joe’s kindness over the years. We are so very saddened and have all of you and your families in our on going prayers. He was not only fun but he was a kind man who was blessed with a wonderful family and faithful friends. May he rest in eternal peace and may you all find comfort in knowing that others share in your sorrow. Tinka and Al

To all of the Family of Joe, I offer you my deepest sympathy and condolences for his loss. Such a kind man! I loved seeing Joe & Jan at St. Michael’s. It was only a week ago, in the grocery store, that Joe & I chatted about the Dawgs & the Cadets. May God grant you peace & comfort, now, & in the time ahead.

We were so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I first met Joe out of necessity in needing his services as a lawyer some years ago. Over the next two years we became friends and I learned what a great person he was and the fabulous life he had lived. Needless to say, he and his team did a wonderful job and saved the day. We stayed in touch afterwards and spoke occasionally. It is with great regret that we are out of the country and cannot pay our respects in person. I know Joe will be greatly missed by all and especially his family. Please accept our deepest condolences. You will all be in our prayers.
